To edit footage in Final Cut; obviously large files, and to share them in a lab setting. Any ideas on best method to have all of the computers hook to one external 2-4 TB hard drive to be able to share/ save/ edit the footage? I've tried the Western Digital 2 TB via Ethernet, but it was too slow.

A network drive is the only thing I can think of, but as you mentioned - it's going to be pretty slow especially if you only have 10/100mb/s ethernet.

One thing you could try is mounting it as a network drive, then render the videos to the PC directly. After it's rendered you can copy/paste it to the network drive, it should technically make it go a little quicker but not by much.
