Good morning,

I have a Dell Latitude D610 laptop. I was using the laptop when it just shutdown by itself. I thought that the battery may have been the cause, so i connected the ac adapter. I pressed the power button and got the startup screen, then it clicked and shutoff. I then pressed the power button again and all I got was a click then off. The power light come on but thats all, no other lights (battery, drive).

Any suggestions and help would be greatly appreciated.

Bruce

See what happens if you remove the battery and try to turn it on (obviously the ac adapter will still need to be connected).

With the battery out: same thing
With the battery in: charge light is flashing off and on (slowly)

Battery: when pressing the charge indicator all 5 lights flash on. It was on 4 lights after hooking up ac adapter back to full charge.

Have you run the Dell Diagnostics package?

Louis,

The laptop will not power on. When you press the power button it makes a click sound and then goes off. I can hear the fan start, but that's all.

Try looking at the lights when you press the power button according to the table in the link below.
They may lead you in the right direction.
