Hi. I downloaded a mixtape zip file yesterday, most of the mp3 files were corrupted. I didn't think much but at another website I was at, I clicked a link, and it went to Crackle.com and started playing a Seinfeld episode. Right away I ran Avast and Malwarebytes but it didn't pick up anything.

I googled "crackle redirect virus" and from the results I figured I got a virus but only that one time it redirected. I've tried google, IE, and chrome but no other redirects since hten. Just to be safe I ran TDSS Killer but it didn't pick up anything. I thought maybe it was just that site.

But when I turned on my computer again today I got a pop up that said "RunDLL There was a problem starting C:/Users/mycomputer/AppData/Local/Temp The specified module couldn't be found."

My computer seemed to be working fine though, no redirects but I remembered that I should try running Malwarebytes in Safe Mode. Did that and it picked up one virus "Exploit.Drop.9" I deleted it in safe mode and restarted my computer like it said. The same "RunDLL" pop up came up. I went to Malwarebytes, deleted the virus in quarantine, restarted my computer in safe mode, ran Malwarebytes and this time it came back clean. But I'm still getting the "RunDLL" pop up!

What can I do to get rid of whatever remnants of this virus remains. I need to use this computer for business and I don't want to give people infected files.

I would appreciate any help, thank you.

I posted this in another sub forum, but maybe this is the correct one. I noticed when I clicked on a link at a website I got redirected to Crackle.com's Seinfeld episodes.

Ran Avast, Malwarebytes, then TDSS Killer, and nothing. Restarted my computer and got "Run DLL-There was a problem starting C"/Users/MyComputer/AppData/Local/Temp This specified module cannot be found"

I then ran Malwarebytes in safe mode and it picked up a virus called Drop.Exploit.9. I got deleted it in safemode and then later in normal mode but I still get the RunDLL pop up but when I run Malwarebytes in safemode it says the computer is clean.

Can anyone help me? Thanks.

Hello, I merged your posts here.

Is this the exacr and complete message?
"RunDLL There was a problem starting C:/Users/mycomputer/AppData/Local/Temp The specified module couldn't be found."

Did you install MBAM in safe mode?

Download Security Check from HERE, and save it to your Desktop.

* Double-click SecurityCheck.exe
* Follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box.
* A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt; please post the contents of that document.

>>>>>>>

Please download MiniToolBox, save it to your desktop and run it.

Checkmark the following checkboxes:
  • Flush DNS
  • Report IE Proxy Settings
  • Reset IE Proxy Settings
  • Report FF Proxy Settings
  • Reset FF Proxy Settings
  • List content of Hosts
  • List IP configuration
  • List Winsock Entries
  • List last 10 Event Viewer log
  • List Installed Programs
  • List Users, Partitions and Memory size.
Click Go and post the result (Result.txt). A copy of Result.txt will be saved in the same directory the tool is run.

Note: When using "Reset FF Proxy Settings" option Firefox should be closed.

>>>>>>>

  • Run TDSSKiller.exe.
  • Click on Change Parameters
  • Put a check in the box of Detect TDLFS file system
  • Click Start scan.
  • When it is finished the utility outputs a list of detected objects with description.
The utility automatically selects an action (Cure or Delete) for malicious objects.
The utility prompts the user to select an action to apply to suspicious objects (Skip, by default). Let the options as it is and click Continue
  • Let reboot if needed and tell me if the tool needed a reboot.
  • Click on Report and post the contents of the text file that will open.

Note: By default, the utility outputs the log into system disk (it is usually the disk with installed operating system, C:\) root folder. The Log

    have a name like: TDSSKiller.Version_Date_Time_log.txt.

Thank you for replying and helping me.

Actually it says "RunDLL There was a problem starting C:\Users\Parker\AppData\Local\Temp The specified module could not be found"

"Parker" is the name of my computer.

I already had Malwarebytes installed on my computer. Do I need to reinstall it in safemode before following the instructions?

While waiting for the other logs... There is nothing after TEMP? C:\Users\Parker\AppData\Local\Temp...
I ask as usually it looks something like... C:\Windows\System32\rundll32.exe "C:\Users\sorimachi\TEMP\tb.dll

Hello, looks like we have more than we can handle here safely
We need a DDS log..

Please go here....Preparation Guide ,do steps 6-9.

Create a DDS log and post it in the new topic explained in step 9 which is here Virus, Trojan, Spyware, and Malware Removal Logs and not in this topic, thanks.
If GMER won't run (it may not on a 64 bit system) skip it and move on.

Include this link back here..

Let me know if that went well.

I'm sorry but I forgot to fully copy and paste from the Mini Tool Box results that included what programs I have. I edited that post so that it has the full information.

I disabled script blocking and shields in Windows and Avast but when I ran the DDS it said I have Windows Defender enabled (which I didn't even know I had installed). I was worried that it had a script blocking feature but when I found it, it says "Service Has Stopped" so I hope that didn't interfere with the results.

Other than that I think I got the DDS and DeFogger to work okay and I've already posted the results in the other forum.

Thanks.

Update:

I checked to see if I had my Windows Firewall on but it's off and won't let me do anything with it. I got error code 080070424

I ran Avast Boot Time Scan and it came up with iTunes has "CAB archive is corrupted"

and Java is infected by "Java: Agent-AGS[Expl]"

Thank you,you willl be helped on all of this.

Now that your log is properly posted, you should NOT make further changes to your computer (install/uninstall programs, use special fix tools, delete files, edit the registry, etc) unless advised by a Malware Removal Team member, nor should you continue to ask for help elsewhere. Doing so can result in system changes which may not show it the log you already posted. Further, any modifications you make on your own may cause confusion for the helper assisting you and could complicate the malware removal process which would extend the time it takes to clean your computer.

From this point on the Malware Removal Team should be the only members that you take advice from, until they have verified your log as clean.

Please be patient. It may take a while to get a response because the Malware Removal Team members are very busy working logs posted before yours. They are volunteers who will help you out as soon as possible. Once you have made your post and are waiting, please DO NOT make another reply until it has been responded to by a member of the Malware Removal Team. Generally the staff checks the forum for postings that have 0 replies as this makes it easier for them to identify those who have not been helped. If you post another response there will be 1 reply. A team member, looking for a new log to work may assume another MRL Team member is already assisting you and not open the thread to respond.

The current wait time is 1 - 3 days and ALL logs are answered.

If HelpBot replies to your topic, PLEASE follow Step One so it will report your topic to the team members.

To avoid confusion, I am closing this topic
