Good afternoon,

Thank you for your anticipated assistance. My wife's laptop wouldn't start right the other day, so I was asked to look at it. Windows 7 Home Premium 64 was asking for it's Product Key, and my Kaspersky was broke, AND she couldn't get on the internet. I was able to recover the Windoze product code using Belarc, and was also able to re-install the Kasspersky PURE. Before doing these things I ran a Kaspersky boot disk scan which found one bug in a "fictitous?" java cache folder. I DID NOT make a note of what the name of the bug was. Follow-up scan with Malware Bytes and Spybot do not reveal an infection. I THINK I'm clear. However the internet is still broke and I think it revolves around my WAN Miniport devices, not sure. I have atached a HJT log and ask for your help in reviewing it.

Where you see "file missing" at the end of several lines, I did check \System32 folder for both files mentioned and they do exist, so I am not sure what to make of that.

I ask for your assistance and thank you for taking the time to look. :thumbsup:
Fred

Hello, Welcome to BleepingComputer.
I'm nasdaq and will be helping you.

If you can please print this topic it will make it easier for you to follow the instructions and complete all of the necessary steps.
===

Where you see "file missing" at the end of several lines, I did check \System32 folder for both files mentioned and they do exist, so I am not sure what to make of that.

HijackThis is not able to provide accurate information for 64 bit systems.
In your case we need to see a DDS Log.
I would remove HijackThis using the Add/Remove Programs list.

Please download and run this DDS Scanning Tool. Nothing will be deleted. It will just give me some additional information about your system.

  • Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links if you no longer have it available. Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  • A small box will open, with an explanation about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
  • Notepad will open with the results.
  • Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run.

Please just paste the contents of the DDS.txt log in your next post. DO NOT attach the log.
===

Please download Farbar Service Scanner and run it on the computer with the issue.
  • Make sure that all the options are checked:
  • Press "Scan".
  • It will create a log (FSS.txt) in the same directory the tool is run.
  • Please copy and paste the log to your reply.

p.s.
If the internet connection is not available on this computer download the files using a good computer and copy the files to the problem computer.
