Hi a while back my desktop icons completely disappeared. I have looked everywhere to try and get them back and don't know how. Everything I have found online does not seem to deal with this issue. I am running xp home w/ sp2. Thanks in advance for your help.

Have you recently installed or uninstalled any software or run a registry cleaner, Spybot, or anything similar?

Have you run a virus scan using the av ap on your computer?
If not, open it, update the definitions and run a full, deep scan.

Did you change the desktop settings, IE, active desktop?

Run a few of these online antimalware scans using Internet Explorer:

Kaspersky Anti-Virus Web Scanner

Panda Activescan

Trend Micro antivirus and malware scan:

Etrust Anti-virus web scanner

I have run ad aware and spybot and avg, nothing came through with avg. Cleaned up the stuff with the other two. But the icons were long gone before I ever did that. Of course I can't right click on my desktop for some reason, that quit about the same time the icons disappeared. I also can't use my run command either. I have run hijack this and have a copy of the log. Have also used the fixes at Kellys Corner and then restarted my computer. So far no luck. Am running Panda right now.
