Hello all,

First off, let me say after reading through these forums I can say I have learned a bunch. There are a bunch of insightful posts here, and it's always nice to be able to learn some new things you had no idea about before. Anyhow... lets see if some of you brilliant people can help me out with this problem I'm having! Hopefully you can.

*6/15 - Was watching a Youtube video, and out of no where my computer beeped and froze completely. After turning it back on, I guess I could just tell something was not right.

*6/16 - After playing around with it the following day, I noticed how slow it became, and how everything began to freeze and show a "Not Responding" note on browsers and other programs. This started to get incredibly frustrating, as I've tried to take every precaution to protect my computer from malware/viruses etc. So to go from a lightning fast cpu with 20 applications open to being able to do nothing definitely sucks.... especially when you work from home on your computer.. ha

* Anyway, this continued on and on until yesterday, where I decided to read everything I possibly could on the net associated with this matter. I was determined to get this fixed so I could get back to working on this cpu instead of reformatting or buying a new one.

First - I Uninstalled completely - Malwarebytes (which I have used for the past year with great success) / Avast ( also have used for the past year along with Malwarebytes) / Spybot Search and Destroy

Next - I removed every single thing I had remaining from Startup Programs in msconfig

Next - I went into my Registry and deleted " Core Parking "

Next - I tried to run SFC scannow in cmd prompt and had no luck ( yes ran as administrator). Then I tried to run a Chkdsk scan and 4 of 5 the way through I was presented with a blue screen that I didn't have a chance to read in depth before it was gone.

* Ps. Before Uninstalling anything, I tried running Malwarebytes/spybot/avast over 20 times, but each of them froze every time. Also tried in safe mode.

Next - Since Chkdsk didn't work either, I decided to run /sfc scannow again and oddly enough, this time it worked. It did correct some corrupted files as it said when finishing. After this worked, I tried to run Chkdsk again but same blue screen.

After doing all of this, I rebooted and somehow my computer was back to its normal self but with no protection whatsoever. Everything was working well with no "Not Responding" and freezing. Although everything was well, I tried reinstalling Malwarebytes after reading all the threads here on certain procedures.

I noticed after installing Malwarebytes again correctly, some programs on my cpu did not want to open and would freeze again. Although everything associated with Firefox/browsing was still completely fine until I would try and run Malwarebytes or even open iTunes for example. Slow/Freeze/Hang again when i tried to open certain applications.

* I was able to perform a quick scan but have tried Performing a Full Scan over 10 times now and it always Freezes up my computer and am forced to force shutdown. Everytime I run the scan it seems to hang up on something associated with Microsoft Silverlight if that helps.

Anyways, I decided to uninstall the program again completely so I could actually use all the applications on my CPU. Again everything was working fine.

So here I am, with no Antivirus/ and no Malware/spyware protection but with a working computer again thats faster than it was before all these issues that arised a week ago. What to do ? I know I can't continue to use the cpu like this or else I'm sure I will encounter something worse to infect my computer in the near future.

*Really hope one of you guys can help me get this fixed, and I really appreciate it if you took the time to read all the problems I'm having atm with this computer.

Thanks a lot,

Hello, i am not sure what is happenning here myself.
I guess you can start at step 2.

1. Uninstall Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware using Add/Remove programs in the control panel.
2. Restart your computer (very important).
3. Download and run this utility. Mbam clean
4. It will ask to restart your computer (please allow it to).
5. After the computer restarts, install the latest version from here. http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam-download.php
Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent.
Note: If using Free version, ignore the part about putting in your license key and activating.
Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration.
Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates.
Restart the computer again and verify that MBAM is in the task tray and run a Quick Scan and post that log.

Please download MiniToolBox, save it to your desktop and run it.

Checkmark the following checkboxes:
  • Flush DNS
  • Report IE Proxy Settings
  • Reset IE Proxy Settings
  • Report FF Proxy Settings
  • Reset FF Proxy Settings
  • List content of Hosts
  • List IP configuration
  • List Winsock Entries
  • List last 10 Event Viewer log
  • List Installed Programs
  • List Users, Partitions and Memory size.
Click Go and post the result (Result.txt). A copy of Result.txt will be saved in the same directory the tool is run.

Note: When using "Reset FF Proxy Settings" option Firefox should be closed.

Please download TDSSKiller.zip and and extract it.
  • Run TDSSKiller.exe.
  • Click on Change Parameters
  • Put a check in the box of Detect TDLFS file system
  • Click Start scan.
  • When it is finished the utility outputs a list of detected objects with description.
The utility automatically selects an action (Cure or Delete) for malicious objects.
The utility prompts the user to select an action to apply to suspicious objects (Skip, by default). Let the options as it is and click Continue
  • Let reboot if needed and tell me if the tool needed a reboot.
  • Click on Report and post the contents of the text file that will open.

Note: By default, the utility outputs the log into system disk (it is usually the disk with installed operating system, C:\) root folder. The Log have a name like: TDSSKiller.Version_Date_Time_log.txt.

Please download aswMBR ( 511KB ) to your desktop.
  • Double click the aswMBR.exe icon to run it
  • Click the Scan button to start the scan
  • On completion of the scan, click the save log button, save it to your desktop and post it in your next reply.
