Hi Guys

Just a quick question about the searech facility.
When I try to search for something the results are always the same.
"One or all of your search keywords were below 3 characters or you searched for words which are not allowed, such as 'html', 'img', etc, please increase the length of these search keywords or choose different keywords."

Todays simple enough search was "Limited or no connectivity in XP"

What am I doing wrong? :busy:

Search Is it me? >> Yes -
or no and in XP all have less than 3 letters -

Go > XP forum > Do not open any more > Type - Limited Connectivity > Click Search > Click XP forums > It returned 65 results -

Ok Thanks. I know it seems like I don't understand the answer. I read it enough times, but Iv'e never seen a search facility exclude 2 letter words before so I thought it was some kind of glitch.

Can I ask why it does that?

My answers are my opinion only, usually

What caperjac said... Too many return results. of,an,is at etc....

It used to be at 3 letters ,but that was restricting searches of terms like RAM,bit,CPU ETC...

I'll add my two cents although the general message was given. The forum software is quite limited in it's ability to search less than three word queries and three letter words. Thats just a fact. We don't like it but it's what we live with. If you can recall a specific phrase to search you can use quotes to help refine the search. Alternatively you can sometimes use google to search and use the site: bleepingcomputer.com modifier, to slightly improve your results. It's not perfect but sometimes it works better.

As an example for using google here, I entered the phrase:

limited or no connectivity on windows xp, site:bleepingcomputer.com

And here's the returned results:

https://www.google.com/search?client=opera&rls=en&q=limited+or+no+connectivity+on+windows+xp,+site:bleepingcomputer.com&sourceid=opera&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8
