Hi,
My laptop is running win7 x64, I have run scans using kaspersky rescue cd, but it did not solve the problem, I cannot login due to the "windows has encountered a critical problem and wil restart in 1 minute" error, that occurs almost immediately on login.

I tried safe mode with no network connection, ethernet unplugged, but I still get this error and the computer shuts down.

Because of this I am unable to run malwarebytes or gather any type of log.

Kaspersky rescue cd found Trojan.backdoor.zaccess.oun infected in Windows/assembly/GAC_32/Desktop.ini

I had a rootkit in this area before, So i don't know if it is a new or old infection.

Please any suggestions, at least to be able to start up safe mode.

mooseheadgreen,

With the information you have provided I believe you will need help from the malware removal team. It's not that I don't want to continue helping you here, there are tools that may need to be used that aren't allowed in the Am I Infected forum.

Please follow the instructions in ==>This Guide<== starting at Step 6. If you cannot complete a step, skip it and continue.

Once the proper logs are created, then make a NEW TOPIC and post it ==>HERE<== Please include a description of your computer issues, what you have done to resolve them, and a link to this topic.

If you can produce at least some of the logs, then please create the new topic and explain what happens when you try to create the log(s) that you couldn't get. If you cannot produce any of the logs, then still post the topic and explain that you followed the Prep. Guide, were unable to create the logs, and describe what happens when you try to create the logs.

It would be helpful if you post a note here once you have completed the steps in the guide and have started your topic in malware removal. Good luck and be patient.

If HelpBot replies to your topic, PLEASE follow Step One so it will report your topic to the team members.
Regards,
Jason
