So my laptop consists of a 120GB Kingston HyperX SSD (OS Drive) and a WD 750GB 7200RPM HDD (Storage Drive). Now i am curious if it is possible to say use a 40GB Intel 310 Msata SSD enabled with Intel Smart Response to serve as cache for just the 750 HDD. I am aware that by setting the sata controller to RAID it my cause problems with the 120GB SSD boot drive. But ive also read conflicting reports as well. Please be reminded i do not want to lose TRIM support on my SSD, ive heard by setting the Mobo to RAID it will lose TRIM but ive also heard its only if that specific drive is set in RAID which in this case its not.
