Built this computer about a month and a half ago. Everything has been running fine up until Firefox started slowing down.

Firefox has been opening web pages very slowly as of late, I have scanned with Malwarebytes and Super anti spyware and only found some adware cookies.

# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

# localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
# 127.0.0.1 localhost
# ::1 localhost

As you can see my hosts file has not been edited. I am not sure what to think of this.

Help will be hugely appreciated! Also as I seem to always come here when I need computer help and you guys always help me out, could you tell me if you accept donations or not? And if so, how I can give them?

Kind regards and thankyou for reading,

Sean.

I would like some extra info. Do you notice Internet Explorer (IE) or Crome if it's installed loading slowly as well? I have noticed that sometimes and on certain computers that Firefox (FF) will load slowly. If you don't have problems in IE it may just be FF and nothing actually wrong with your computer. Do you have any other problems or symptoms?

Thank you for your response :D

I just tested it with IE and it seems to be going just as slow as Firefox. This is strange to me because up until about a week ago everything browser related would load almost instantly.

I have searched with super anti spyware and malware bytes and they have only turned up some adware cookies. I am not entirely certain if this may be malware related, but when I have computer trouble malware is the first thing I try to diagnose as it is the most threatening to security.

I used to think that my avast! anti virus and malwarebytes active shields were competing for memory while I browsed the web, but today my malwarebytes free trial ran out and its active shield has deactivated, and I still have slow internet.

Regards, Sean.

Please download MiniToolBox, save it to your desktop and run it.

Checkmark the following checkboxes:

Flush DNS
Report IE Proxy Settings
Reset IE Proxy Settings
Report FF Proxy Settings
Reset FF Proxy Settings
List content of Hosts
List IP configuration
List Winsock Entries
List last 10 Event Viewer log
List Installed Programs
List Users, Partitions and Memory size.

Click Go and post the result (Result.txt). A copy of Result.txt will be saved in the same directory the tool is run.

Note: When using "Reset FF Proxy Settings" option Firefox should be closed.

Your Mini toolbox looks good. You are one update behind on Java but other than that, from what I see, it looks good.

Try a Speed Test on your internet connection. It could be that something has happened with your internet connection that your provider will need to fix. You should be able to compare your speed test results to the bandwidth that you are paying your provider for. If your not in the US you may want to find another speed test.

I reformatted the computer today because of incorrectly installed motherboard/driver software.

Thank you for taking the time to help me out with my suspicions!

Regards and thanks again,

Sean.
