Hello,

I'm starting this new topic following a discussion on this former topic posted by someone else (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic456569.html).

I have the same issue than described in the initial post, meaning : all files from several specific types (.txt, .xls, .doc, .jpg, ...) have been "encrypted" in a ".crypt" format (for exemple if my initial file is called "hello.txt", the file I would have now would be "hello.txt.crypt"). Original files have of course been deleted and trying to rename files by removing this extension do not work at all (I also tried to bring one of the file in another computer to open it but it's still not working so my conclusion is that the files have really been encrypted).

For each folder where some of my files have been encrypted I can now find a new "WARNING.txt" file where I can find the following "instructions" :

YOUR ID: 602

YOUR COMPUTER IS BLOCKED. All your documents, text files and databases
are securely encrypted.
You can unblock your computer by completing three easy steps.

STEP 1: Buy a MoneyPak in amount of $50 at the nearest store.

STEP2: Fill out the fields on the black screen on your cumputer. Otherwise
send as an e-mail at cryptdecrypt@yahoo.com. Indicate your ID in the message
title and provide MoneyPak number.

STEP 3: Check your e-mail. We will send you a program to remove the malware
and decrypt your files once payment is verified. Your computer will roll back
to the ordinary state.

Q: How I can make sure that you can really decipher my files?

A: You can send ONE any ciphered file on email cryptdecrypt@yahoo.com
(Indicate your ID and /test decrypt/ phrase in the message title), in the
response message you receive the deciphered file.

Q: Where can I purchase a MoneyPak?

A: MoneyPak can be purchased at thousands of stores nationwide, including
major retailers such as Walmart, Walgreens, CVS/pharmacy, Rite Aid, Kmart,
Kroger and Meijer.

Q: How do I buy a MoneyPak at the store?

A: Pick up a MoneyPak from the Prepaid Product Section or Green Dot display
and take it to the register. The cashier will collect your cash and load it onto
the MoneyPak.
https://www.moneypak.com/StoreLocator.aspx - here you find a store near .

I alread tried to launch a system restauration but I just receive an error message explaining that system restauration "do not seem to work" (I've got the french version of windows so this is only translation).

I also tried a "decryption" program proposed by forum members (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic455347.html/page__p__2718675#entry2718675) but it's not working, probably because this is a new variant of the program.

As requested by some of the members from the forum, I create my own topic with DDS log results attached.

I just would like to specify that I really think this is a new version of the malware because yesterday morning I had a lot of difficulties to find information on it on google while not a lot of people since that have requested help on the same topic (see my first link).

Please do not hesitate to ask any question. Of course my files are for me very precious because they represent days and days of work and some contains very important data to me.

Thanks a lot for your help and really sorry to disturb.

Please notice that my real issue is not really to get rid of this malware (removing the virus seems not so complicated, I think a lot of antimalware tools would be able to do it) but to recover my files (when this will be done I think I will perform a full format of my harddrives as I think I also have other malwares on them).

Hello and welcome to Bleeping Computer!

I am HelpBot: an automated program designed to help the Bleeping Computer Staff better assist you! This message contains very important information, so please read through all of it before doing anything.

We apologize for the delay in responding to your request for help. Here at Bleeping Computer we get overwhelmed at times, and we are trying our best to keep up. Please note that your topic was not intentionally overlooked. Our mission is to help everyone in need, but sometimes it takes just a little longer to get to every request for help. No one is ignored here.

To help Bleeping Computer better assist you please perform the following steps:

***************************************************

Posted Image In order to continue receiving help at BleepingComputer.com, YOU MUST tell me if you still need help or if your issue has already been resolved on your own or through another resource! To tell me this, please click on the following link and follow the instructions there.

CLICK THIS LINK >>> http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/logreply/456626 <<< CLICK THIS LINK

If you no longer need help, then all you needed to do was the previous instructions of telling me so. You can skip the rest of this post. If you do need help please continue with Step 2 below.

***************************************************

Posted Image If you still need help, I would like you to post a Reply to this topic (click the "Add Reply" button in the lower right hand of this page). In that reply, please include the following information:

  • If you have not done so already, include a clear description of the problems you're having, along with any steps you may have performed so far.
  • A new DDS and GMER log. For your convenience, you will find the instructions for generating these logs repeated at the bottom of this post.
    • Please do this even if you have previously posted logs for us.
    • If you were unable to produce the logs originally please try once more.
    • If you are unable to create a log please provide detailed information about your installed Windows Operating System including the Version, Edition and if it is a 32bit or a 64bit system.
    • If you are unsure about any of these characteristics just post what you can and we will guide you.
  • Please tell us if you have your original Windows CD/DVD available.
  • Upon completing the above steps and posting a reply, another staff member will review your topic and do their best to resolve your issues.

Thank you for your patience, and again sorry for the delay.

***************************************************

We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan again:

  • Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links if you no longer have it available. Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  • A small box will open, with an explanation about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
  • Notepad will open with the results.
  • Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
  • Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.
Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.

Information on A/V control HERE

We also need a new log from the GMER anti-rootkit Scanner.

Please note that if you are running a 64-bit version of Windows, you should not bother creating a GMER log.

Please first disable any CD emulation programs using the steps found in this topic:

Why we request you disable CD Emulation when receiving Malware Removal Advice

Then create another GMER log and post it as an attachment to the reply where you post your new DDS log. Instructions on how to properly create a GMER log can be found here:

How to create a GMER log

As I am just a silly little program running on the BleepingComputer.com servers, please do not send me private messages as I do not know how to read and reply to them! Thanks!
