Here at work I use the guest network. It's an open connection but requires additional logon information.
What is supposed to happen is I connect to the network, open my browser and I get a blue screen with the cisco logo. I would put in a password and proceed to use my internet as any normal person would.

What ACTUALLY happens now is I connect to the network open my browser and chrome gives me the, reset your router, check your Proxy settings blah blah.
So then I have to go down to the office and ask them to reset the router which they are quiet reluctant to do at best.

The reset fixes it for a few hours, and I have to go through this over and over.
So I thought this was a problem with the router, but then I went and checked my roomate's laptop while he was out, and he was connected just fine.
Well then I booted him off and tried again and nothing.
I know for a fact that im the only person trying to sign on at the moment so it couldent be a congestion problem.

I'm on a laptop running windows 7 pro about 10 feet from the router and receiving full bars.

I'v updated my wireless drivers and rooted around in the setting, because I have a semester of networking under my belt and have some idea what im doing.
Some suggestions I'v found in my travels required me to find my "default gateway" via the ipconfig.
I would like to give a heads up to any one wanting to suggest this as well, because when I do I get 80 or so tunnel adaptors and cant see the top of the page where the useful information would be.
Not sure if this is related to the problem or not, but defiantly could be.

Run and post a Mini Toolbox as described in This Topic.

Something else to check: In Chrome, go to the "wrench" in the top right corner, scroll down and click "show advanced settings". Under the "Network" heading select "Change proxy settings..." and then click LAN Settings at the bottom of the popup.

Make sure the following are unchecked:

Automatically detect settings
Use automatic config script
Use a proxy server

If all are already unchecked, try toggling "Automatically detect settings".

Any change?

Your WiFi card is getting a valid IP address/information.

Can you try temporarily disabling the LogMeIn/Hamachi Network Interface? You should be able to do this by uninstalling the program or disable it by going to "Network Connections", right clicking and selecting "Disable" (to access network connections on Windows 7, click start and type "network connections". Click "View network connections" in the search results.)

The reason I want you to try this is in case your PC is seeing it as an active network connection and for whatever reason is trying to use that for the internet/Cisco login screen. You also had a packet lost when pinging google in MiniToolbox. Of course, once it's troubleshooted you can install/enable it again if needed.

Also, have you always had that many tunnel adapters? What items do you have listed in "Network Connections" along with your wireless/ethernet connections?

I swear I already disable hamachi, but it must have re-enabled last time I rebooted.
But that wouldn't be it, I just installed it today, and this has been going on all week.

In my network connections I have in addition to the obvious two, the hamachi (which is now disabled) and something called "microsoft virtual wifi miniport adaptor" which I have no idea how that got there or what it is, which is why I disabled it before I posted on here.

I should also note that we also have another router using a WEP2-PSK encryption.
If I try to connect to that it just tells me that windows was unable to connect without even giving me the option to put in a password.
Yet at home it has no problem with a regular WEP2 router and at school it dosnt have a problem with a system similar to the cisco system.
If some one could help me out here, I really need this worked out before the summer starts or im in serious trouble.

Alright, well that was fun.

But nothing seems to have changed.

mmmhhmm, I didnt update the driver because I already did that today, and the one I found seems to be more up to date that the one on that list.
The IP helper service was already set to disabled, I think I remember doing that while I was looking for solutions before I posted here.

Everything else I followed to a T, and it seems all for not.
This thing is really becoming a problem, I still have like 80 tunnel adaptors, and I dont even know what THOSE ARE.
Also, today, I had a mini heart attack because the wireless adaptor completely STOP WORKING.

I ended up having to uninstall my wireless driver and use my usb wifi dongle to download a replacement driver.
Speaking of which, my usb dongle also dosnt connect to the cisco network, but it does connect to the WPA2 network, which my laptop's wifi will not.
But alas, they wont give me the password, and so im stuck out side using the dinning hall's internet to write this.

Is there anything else I can try?

Well it worked almost all day yesterday.
I ended up just uninstalling all of those tunnel adaptors, because they would re enable when I would reboot.
Then, last night, it stopped working for everyone, and now it's just me again.
So I put those logs in like you wanted.
One thing I noticed, in my network map, is that I can see the company "infrastructure". It has the same IP as the login page, so I asume thats what controls it.
So I tried pinging it and it came back just fine. Dont know if that helps at all.

I noticed in that minitoolbox log that you have uTorrent installed. Try uninstalling it as it may be causing their firewall to block you since uTorrent tries to share files you've downloaded (both legal and illegal) when it gets an active internet connection. I've seen many networks block ports such as that and then ban devices from it if it keeps trying to find an open port.

This would also explain why you can ping the gateway but your internet is still down.

Just as a diagnostic can you uninstall Eset and then reboot and see if you can connect the fire wall provided by eset has been known to cause connection issues.

Change to Avast or Avira which can easily be found with google.

Hello,

Since I don't consider using google to find links to things especially anti malware software also I don't see it as professional to do so, here are the direct links to those: Avast: http://www.avast.com/en-us/index. Avira: http://www.avira.com/en/index

Have a nice day,
~Comp
