I recently did a reformat on my computer, so I'm having to get everything set up all over again since it's like "brand new" all over. However I can't figure out how to connect to my internet again. I have a netbook computer that is still able to get on through the router, so my internet itself is still up and working. I just can't get my desktop to connect. I have charter's internet, and my desktop is a Windows XP Dell Dimension 3000. Can someone help me figure out how to get it to connect please?

You will need to go to http://support.dell.com and download the network card drivers for your Dell. You will need to imput your Dell Service Tag, and get them that way.

How can I download them to my desktop if I am not able to connect to the internet on it? I am only on a netbook computer, which does not have a CD drive, so I can't copy them that way either.

I'm not sure what a thumb drive is, so I doubt it.

Its a USB stick, and can you get one or do you still have the Driver CD's that came with your Dell?

Oh okay, I don't have one and I'm not sure if I'd be able to get one. If I could it would be a little bit before I could. And I do the Driver CDs. I had to order them from Dell again in order to do the reformat.

the drivers should be on there locate a cd called Windows drivers and software or something to that effect, and use the CD.

I received 5 discs total. I have two that might be what your talking about. One says "APPLICATION - For reinstalling Dell Tools and System Software" and the contents listed say Antivirus software, support software, multimedia software, and internet software"

The other says "DRIVERS AND UTILITIES - DVD for installing Dell Dimenstion and Dell XPS Computer software" and the contents are Device drivers and Diagnostics and utilities.

Which one should I use? I'm thinking the first one is what you're talking about for the fact that it mentions the internet.

The drivers and utilities one, it should auto-start and guide you through installation of all your drivers.

I've installed the CD, and under the Drivers part, it lists a lot of different things. Should I download all of them, or are there just specific ones I need?

Look for Network or LAN on the CD.

Are you online, and can you connect with the desktop?

Don't I have to connect my desktop to the internet manually? I can't access the internet as it doesn't have any connection, even after downloading that.
