Hey guys, when I was first infected with spyware (which I didn't know existed), I got sucked in by these pop up adds and I paid for WinAntiSpyware 2005. I was already having trouble with Spy falcon and homepage troubles before I installed WinAntispyware 2005. The program was detecting things like spy axe, spy falcon and PS GUARD (I always get a about:blank address then PS GUARD makes an unfavoured apearrance) The program then couldn't get rid of these so I downloaded microsoft beta. It is in those forums that I got a link for here and found out that of course WinAntiSpyware 2005 is not good software.

Microsoft WD was constantly having problems removing PS GUARD as well as ZOLOB (and still is having problems). So I downloaded ad aware and spybot...and they detected some other stuff ( I restarted with spybot. I think these spyware programs are going to come back if I reboot anyway). I have trend micro antivirus 2005. I also used the Housecall program once (before I came onto this site) and now every time I try to use it again it freezes. The panda site didn't work however luckily Bit defender did work and did a good scan. I then used the McAfee Stinger program and that didn't detect anything.

I was hoping you guys could help me?? Here's my HijackThis log file

Hello and welcome to the forum. If you still need help I will see what I can do. Please follow the directions and if you have questions, ask them.

1) Enable hidden files and folders: http://www.xtra.co.nz/help/0,,4155-1916458,00.html You may not see the bad stuff unless you do this.

2) Look in Start > Control Panel > Add Remove Programs > uninstall SpyFalcon if there, also uninstall any other programs you know should not be there.

Thanks to noahdfear and any others who helped with this fix.

Please read these instructions carefully and print them out! Be sure to follow ALL instructions!

Please print out or copy these instructions\tutorials to Notepad as the internet will not be (while in Safe Mode) available to you at certain points of the removal process. Make sure to work through all the Steps in the exact order in which they are listed below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before moving on with the fixes.

Download SmitRem.exe noahdfear from one of these sites to your Desktop.
http://www.downloads.subratam.org/smitRem.exe
http://noahdfear.geekstogo.com/click%20cou....php?id=1"

Double-click the smitRem.exe and it will extract the files to a smitRem folder on your Desktop.

Please download the trial version of ewido anti-malware 3.5. Install ewido anti-malware 3.5: http://www.ewido.net/en/download/ and start the program from the icon on your desktop, then check for and download updates. Don't Run it Yet.

Reboot to safe mode

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.
Tuturial if needed: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/how-to-start-windows-in-safe-mode/

logon to your user account.
Open the smitfraud folder, then double click the RunThis.bat file to start the tool. Follow the prompts on screen. When the tool completes:

Run hijackthis. Hit None of the above, Click Do a System Scan Only. Put a Check in the box on the left side on these:

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://www.microsoft.com/isapi/redir.dll?prd=ie&ar=iesearch

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SpyFalcon] C:\Program Files\SpyFalcon\SpyFalcon.exe /h
O20 - Winlogon Notify: style32 - C:\WINDOWS\q1949953_disk.dll (file missing)

Close ALL windows and browsers except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"

Delete these folders

C:\Program Files\SpyFalcon\ >>> folder

c:\program files\winantispyware 2005\ >>> folder
Delete these files

C:\WINDOWS\system32\mssearchnet.exe >>> file

C:\WINDOWS\System32\nvctrl.exe >>> file

C:\WINDOWS\q1949953_disk.dll >>> file (may be gone)

Open Ewido Security Suite
Then please run Ewido, click on the Scanner run a full scan and let
it clean everything it finds unless you know it is not bad.
Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom
of the screen named
Click Save report
Save the report to your desktop, I must see that scan report.

In the Control Panel click Display > Desktop > Customize desktop > Website > Uncheck "Security Info" if present.

Empty recycle bin.

Reboot

Download this file from the link to your desktop.
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/DelDomains.inf

Right-click on the deldomains.inf file and select 'Install'

Once it is finished your Zones should be reset.

Note, if you use SpywareBlaster and/or IE/Spyads, it will be necessary to re-install the protection both afford. For SpywareBlaster, run the program and re-protect all items. For IE/Spyads, run the batch file and reinstall the protection

"copy/paste" the contents of the log C:\smitfiles.txt a new HijackThis log and the Ewido scan report to this same thread.

Let me know how the computer is running now, we will have more to do.

Thanks...pskelley

ewido anti-malware - Scan report Created on: 1:24:59 PM, 5/03/2006
Looks like ewido was able to remove everything located, I will post this information for you now, but you can continue to enjoy the extra protection until the trial is over if you wish. ewido is a great program but it does use some resources. Once the trial is over you can update and use the scanner for as long as you wish, but unless you purchase it you should turn it off completely so it does not run unless you start it manually.

The HJT log looks ok, here is some great information from Tony Klein, Texruss, ChrisRLG and Grinler to help you stay clean and safe online:

System Restore does not know good from bad, it backs up everything. In case some of the infection got into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, restart your computer and turn it back on.
