Ok i am wondering if I get a public ip address from my isp would that help my gaming issues that i am having with my ps3 with nat strict and sometimes moderate? I dont want to shell out the money if its not going to help. I am behind a nat issue with my isp they are giving me private ip address.

also can someone list a few benefits of a public ip address i will not be hosting basically i want it for my survalliance cameras and also if it helps for my ps3

Do you use PPoE or another method?

PPPoE is a method of authentication, you may need to contact your ISP once you do please post back.

I'm a little confused. What do you mean your ISP is giving you a "private" address? Do you mean that your cisco router is picking up a 192.168.x.x, 10.x.x.x (or any other non-routable address) for it's WAN IP?

ok I finally gave up and ordered the public ip address from my isp took a week to get it but just got it yesterday. Once I got it and check all the ports and now its working like a charm. I am able to view my cameras remotely and also the ps3 issue is now resolved now its no longer moderate or strict. now its open.

thank you all for all the help on this issue.
