Hello!

After a long break (forgot about this website XD ), I have yet another question.
I just recently bought a Toshiba Tecra 8100 off of eBay for 35. I can get into Windows fine, everything runs normal.
But, I want to install windows 98, and the BIOS password is denying me access to the boot menu.

I have tried these 3 backdoor keys: toshy99 24Banc81 Toshiba -but none work.
Not sure if I should use !BIOS - doesn't list my BIOS... :/

I have bought a USB Floppy drive, it has not arrived yet, so I have yet to test the "Key Disk".

The specs of the machine are as follows:
Intel Pentium III at 650MHz
256MB RAM
Windows XP Pro SP3 (all updates)
12GB HDD
Netgear WG511 v2 PCMCIA Wireless Network Adapter
S3 SavageMX 8MB Video Card
Toshiba BIOS updated 31/12/1999
Yamaha Audio (don't know what make)

FWIW: http://forums.toshiba.com/t5/Satellite-Laptops-all-other/HDD-password-reset/td-p/92284

It may not be as simple as you make it sound.

I think he is talking about the password required to enter the BIOS, not the hard drive password.

My point is that Toshiba employs more than one password strategy...and I think it's unwise to assume that every user is dealing with a BIOS password when he/she cannot access the system...at least, Toshiba systems.

Either that, or is there a boot menu key?
