HI,I was given a ZEROX PHASER 4500B printer that i can not get to work.
I have it hooked up to a USB port,if i go to add a printer it shows with other printers when i go to control
panel,it shows jobs to be printed, but there is a disconnect between PC and printer.
When i did some research on it there was CD that you could use but do not have it.
There is a simple reason for not connecting just not found out why,it activated in 2007.
It will print a configuration page but that is inside printer so it doe's not mean much any ideas
would be helpful,THANK'S

Hi

From here
http://www.support.xerox.com/support/phaser-4500/support-options/enus.html
Phaser 4500 Support & Drivers

From looking at the install guide this printer has plenty of connectivity but is old.
There are drivers on the Xerox website up to Windows 7 which is a good thing.

Look at the setup and user manuals. Download the proper drivers and follow the Setup guide.
http://www.support.xerox.com/support/phaser-4500/file-redirect/enus.html?operatingSystem=win7x64&fileLanguage=en&contentId=53314

Maybe the USB cable or port on the printer is bad? Try one of the other printer to computer options?

Good Luck & hope this helps
Roger

HI,rotor123,I was able to get to the links you provided, but did not get to far with them found videos on ZEROX site.
But sound did not work on it,sound on videos work on PC so another small problem.
I ran into some posts that said the USB port on printer may be bad, also there is a USB TO PARALLEL port adapter but
i need to find out if it is a 25 or 36 pin connection looked for info which one it is a little hard to count, but that may be the way to go,THANK'S

The 25 pin has a row of 13 pins and a row of 12 pins, one above the other.
Typical on the computer
A 36 Pin centronic port has a center with a space all around it with metal leaves. Typical on the printer.

I went to documentation not videos.
This PDF shows the location of the Ethernet, USB and Parallel port in section 6.

shows the centronics on the left and the 25 pin on the right

Good Luck

HI,rotor123,I went and counted the pins and i came up with 36 plus the site called MYCABLEMART said the 36 pin is 2"
across and the 25 pin is 1"" across they have a USB TO 36 PIN ADAPTER for about $20 and this should give me plug&play
ability,it was a little confusing until they explained the size difference,THANK'S
