have a acer aspire...tried upgrading from windows 7 x32 to a x64 and upgraded memory from 3gb to 8 gb

now it wont install windows 7 and is stuck on the installation....computer restarts and comes up with setup is starting then box pops up saying cannot complete

i cant start in safe mode or try and do recovery

you will need to perform a complete reinstall of windows 7 to get 64bit capability. A upgrade isn't possible.

Hi mxfan4lyfe,

What model Acer Aspire do you have. If it has a 64bit processor, I would think it would have come from Acer with Windows 7 64bit already installed. Can you post the model in your next post.

If laptop is x64 compatible,did you have all 8 gig memory in while installing? If so, put back the 3 gig or 4 gig stick and boot from dvd , format and install. If nothing is backed up, you,ll want to put that drive in another computer and do so. If installs ok then put remaining memory in.
