Thanks for all your help ST. I know this has probably been a pain in the butt to work on, but thanks again. Here's the link to new thread post in the Win 7 forum: Link to Win 7 forum

Not a problem! I'll be keeping an eye on that thread. I've had one other user that's had some serious issues with trying to get Windows Updates to work properly after an infection like this.

Hey ST. Well, I still haven't had any luck with my install problem. Other updates still install without any issue. The thread in the Windows forum hasn't borne any real fruit. One person did suggest using the Ccleaner registry cleaner, I was wondering if you had ever heard or used it? Any suggestions?

At this point I've managed to back up most of what I need to save. If Ccleaner doesn't work, since no one else seems to have any ideas, I think I'm just gonna format the drive and reinstall everything.

Hi DasBucket!

Yes, I have heard of CCleaner and do use it fairly regularly. I typically avoid using the registry cleaner feature that's built into it. In your case, I don't believe utilizing this feature will fix the issue you're experiencing with Windows Updates.

In your case, I think the best case maybe to just back-up the essential files you need and reformat and re-install.

Windows Updates is an essential part of Windows, and with the issues you're experiencing, it's probably for the best to reformat and re-install.

Let me know.
