I am looking to upgrade my current computer. My current CPU is an AM2/AM2+ socket and I would like to keep it if possible. Will it work in an AM3/AM3+ socket?

Socket AM3 has 941 pins whereas AM2+ has 940 arranged differently. AM3+ is an evolution of AM3, with an additional pin, and only used with the FX CPU's.
