These two favorites won't stay put. I want it so that Norton forum is on the top and Tech Outpost is on the bottom. I couldn't get them to "harden." I tried to delete those two and put them back again. This worked until I shut down the PC and rebooted it.

Notice how the two entries change place.

List of user software (present on both PC):
•SpywareBlaster
•Inspiration 7.6
•Norton Internet Security 2012 (latest version with all updates installed)
•Paint.Net
•Microsoft Office 2007 (Student)
•Logitech SetPoint
•Microsoft Keyboard (itype)
•Microsoft LifeCam
•Adobe Flash & Adobe Shockwave
•Tracker PDF Xchange viewer (PDF reader)
•QuickTime
•AMD VISION Engine Control Center and other graphic card updates (ATI Catalyst package)
•Latest version of Silverlight (5.1.10411.0)
•WOT (web of trust) for Internet Explorer
•Java 7 Update 4
•ieSpell.
•Internet Explorer 9

I have already run the fixit to reset the Windows search http://support.microsoft.com/mats/windows_search/en-us

I also posted at Microsoft Answers to see if the Microsoft guys have any answer. Please see the Microsoft Answers post for updates (I will try to cross post the results in both thread. IE any updates from the Bleeping computer thread will be posted in Microsoft Answers and vice versa.)

Have you tried going to the favorites menu option and selecting organize favorites and go into each folder and sort by name?

They are already sorted by name. For some strange reason, the glitch tend to activate after the third or forth restart / shutdown & turn on. Is it suppose to stay put?

Edit: I cleared out my favorite of dead links and so far it's staying put. Finger's cross.

The steps I did to get the bug the first time in case anybody wants to investigate:

Clear all your cache through delete Internet files. Check ALL options except the first.
Go to Internet Explorer 9 and click on the second favorite on the list. It will move to the top.

Hi -
I just resorted my Favorites by using a Drag method - I held the item and "lifted or dropped down" with the mouse pointer -
This is with IE8, and so far (after reboot to test) they have stayed where I placed them in the line

Hope this is an idea you can try -

Regards -

IE9 can't re-sort the items in the "omnibar." But so far the fix is holding... . Just spent the whole night fixing this :busy: !

I am thinking that it has something to do with the clicking of the links that you are experiencing this issue. It may put the last clicked favorite in the omnibar at the top of the list.

That's what I thought so too. So perhaps, it IS intended...

Since I was able to replicate this problem on TWO computer of mine, either there is a "common" problem or it is a bug / intended feature.
