Long time fan, first time post. While reading my email this morning from TechRepublic, I rec'd an email about malware repair tools. The first on the list was Combofix. I got up from the computer to get a snack and my grandson downloaded and installed the program <combofix.exe>. He thought he was doing a good deed. My question is; is there a way to reverse the program Combofix.exe? On the opening tutorial of this website, before posting this there is a request to download and run a program called <dds.scr>. I am unable to access the internet thru any browsers; I cannot open any files; I cannot run any programs. I get the same message: "Illegal operation attempted on registry key that has been marked for deletion." But I can copy and paste files onto flash drives. What has my grandson done and can it be reversed? There needs to be more information on this program on the site.
I have attached the log that Combofix.exe has created. I hope this helps. I have Windoze7.
Thank you.

Hi reindrop.

Alright. . . here's what you need to do.

First, reboot the computer. This ought to resolve the error message that keeps you from doing anything.

Second, since ComboFix did run, and it found and removed files, the best thing to do is get the situation checked out by a member of our malware removal team.

Please follow the instructions in This Guide starting at Step 6.

Once the proper logs are created, then make a NEW TOPIC and post it HERE Please include a description of your computer issues and what you have done to try to resolve them.

If you can produce at least some of the logs, then please create the new topic and explain what happens when you try to create the log(s) that you couldn't get. If you cannot produce any of the logs, then still post the topic and explain that you followed the Prep. Guide, were unable to create the logs, and describe what happens when you try to create the logs.

Additionally, please post your ComboFix log in your new topic, and provide a link to this topic. I'm going to remove your log attachment from this topic because ComboFix logs are handled only by our malware removal team in their specialized forum.

If I am helping you, it has been 48 hours since your last post, and I have yet to reply to your topic, please send me a PM
