For some reason my laptop doesn't have sound. It still makes 'bleeps' etc when I hit the wrong buttons etc but it won't play music etc. When I click the volume icon it states that I'm missing something. It askes me to install a 'mixer' or something like that. Could removal of spyware etc deleted a sound driver or something?
I'm fairly computer illiterate, so I have no idea what to do.

I can't repeat the error message cause the volume icon in the bottom toolbar has vanished. When I open up 'sounds' under Control panel it says that 'no audio device' under the Volume tab

Delete your audio device from the Device Manager. When you restart windows it should prompt you to reinstall the device.
