Working with my mother's HP Pavilion G series laptop running Win 7. This morning I was on the internet and the website I was on (Facebook) stopped responding. I then tried to end my internet session and the screen froze. Performed control-alt-delete to restart, and when it did, I was unable to access any programs or internet. I've been working on it all day. Even tried rebooting in safe mode, but that freezes now. A cold restart gets me back to the normal startup, but the program icons come up slow and when I move the cursor over the taskbar, it starts cycling for an indeterminate time.

Any help here? Got plenty of ram, and hd space. This is the first time I've experienced this problem.

I can't access the control panel to start from the last restore point, either. Hmmmmm.

Hello, and sorry for the delay.

Please restart the computer and tap F8 until the Advanced Boot Options menu comes up. Select Repair Windows and press enter.
After the Recovery Environment is loaded, press enter at the keyboard selection dialog and provide login details when asked.

Click on Startup Repair and let me know if that found/fixed any problem.

regards, Elise

Spent 2 1/2 hours Sunday night with an HP techie who helped solve the problem with a hard reset and disc recovery. Thanks for your assistance anyway.
