Hello,

I see mainly leftovers in your log and things that need to get restored also.

So first of all, let's deal with the leftovers of Look2me and restore some settings there. For this, perform next:

Please download Look2Me-Destroyer.exe to your desktop.
  • Close all windows before continuing.
  • Double-click Look2Me-Destroyer.exe to run it.
  • Put a check next to Run this program as a task.
  • You will receive a message saying Look2Me-Destroyer will close and re-open in approximately 10 seconds. Click OK
  • When Look2Me-Remover re-opens, click the Scan for L2M button, your desktop icons will disappear, this is normal.
  • Once it's done scanning, click the Remove L2M button.
  • You will receive a Done Scanning message, click OK.
  • When completed, you will receive this message: Done removing infected files! Look2Me-Destroyer will now shutdown your computer, click OK.
  • Your computer will then shutdown.
  • Turn your computer back on.
If you receive a message from your firewall about this program accessing the internet please allow it.

If you receive a runtime error '339' please download MSWINSCK.OCX from the link below and place it in your D:\Windows\System32 Directory.
http://www.ascentive.com/support/new/images/lib/MSWINSCK.OCX

* Start HijackThis, close all open windows leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following:

* Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.
Make sure your Internet Explorer is closed when you click Fix Checked!

Go to start > run and copy and paste next commands in the field one by one:

sc delete lsass click ok

sc delete "Windows Overlay Components" Click ok

*Go to start > run and type: cleanmgr and click ok.
Let it scan your system for files to remove.
Make sure Temporary Files, Temporary Internet Files, and Recycle Bin are the only things checked.
Press OK to remove them.

I see you were dealing with other malware which disables your Windows firewall, and modifies other keys in the registry, so we need to restore that as well.

Open notepad and copy and paste next bold from the quotebox in it:
(don't forget to copy and paste REGEDIT4)

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\WindowsFirewall\DomainProfile]
"EnableFirewall"=-

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\WindowsFirewall\StandardProfile]
"EnableFirewall"=-

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate]
"DoNotAllowXPSP2"=-

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa]
"restrictanonymous"=dword:00000000

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Ole]
"EnableDCOM"="Y"

Save this as fix.reg Choose to save as *all files and place it on your desktop.
It should look like this: Posted Image
Doubleclick on it and when it asks you if you want to merge the contents to the registry, click yes/ok.

* Perform an onlinescan with panda: (please use this scanner instead of any other scanner!)
Panda Online
- Once you are on the Panda site click the Scan your PC button
- A new window will open...click the Check Now button
- Enter your Country
- Enter your State/Province
- Enter your e-mail address and click send
- Select either Home User or Company
- Click the big Scan Now button
- If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
- It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It may take a couple of minutes)
- When download is complete, click on Local Disks to start the scan
- When the scan completes, if anything malicious is detected, click the See Report button, then Save Report and save it to a convenient location.
Post the contents of the Panda scan report together with the log from Look2meDestroyer which will be present on your D:\Look2Me-Destroyer.txt and a new hijackthislog.

Hello, miekiemoes

Thanks so much for the help!

All steps taken with no problems. I still get a couple pop ups for antivirus software when IE is open.

The cookies folders had been deleted for all XP Identities several times through my own steps of cleaning this PC, so I am suprised to see the results from the Panda scan. Unless something else is writing them on reboot or IE launch.

Here are the logs:

Hello,

It looks like some malware got reinstalled again as I see in your hijackthislog.

* Start HijackThis, close all open windows leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [BrowserUpdateSched] D:\WINDOWS\system32\rwinqsag.exe FI002
O4 - Startup: Zeno.lnk = D:\WINDOWS\system32\rwinqsag.exe

* Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.
Make sure your Internet Explorer is closed when you click Fix Checked!

Delete next files/folders:

D:\WINDOWS\system32\rwinqsag.exe
D:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\winapi32.dll
C:\WINDOWS\inf\biA.inf
C:\WINDOWS\inf\biini.inf
C:\WINDOWS\inf\polmx2.inf
C:\WINDOWS\system32\P2P Networking <== folder
D:\Documents and Settings\LocalService\Start Menu\Programs\UCmore - The Search Accelerator <== folder
D:\FOUND.002\FILE0000.CHK
D:\FOUND.002\FILE0003.CHK
D:\FOUND.002\FILE0004.CHK
D:\FOUND.003\FILE0008.CHK
D:\FOUND.003\FILE0133.CHK

Delete next folders

D:\Program Files\??crosoft.NET <== folder. This is a odd looking folder and contains the file spoolsv.exe Don't delete it anywhere else!!
D:\Documents and Settings\Derek\Application Data\W?nSxS <== this folder, but this one contains the file alg.exe
D:\Documents and Settings\Moo\My Documents\T?sks <== this folder, contains the file regedit.exe

Watch out for three above ones, they have to be exact those folders containing those files you have to delete. Don't go searching for other spoolsv.exe, regedit.exe and alg.exe, because the legit ones are present in your D:\Windows and D:\Windows\System32-folder

If you are having problems with deleting D:\WINDOWS\system32\rwinqsag.exe, look if it is active in your Processes again (CTRL-ALT-DEL -- tab Process), select rwinqsag.exe there and choose end process below.
Then try to delete it again.

Then, Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
If you use Firefox browserClick Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
If you use Opera browserClick Opera at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Reboot and post a new hijackthislog.

Above log looks clean again.

How are things running now?

Perform a full scan with an updated Adaware SE and/or Spybot S&D to get rid of some leftovers if still present.
If you don't have those programs yet, you can find the downloadlocations in my sig.

Hello...
All appears fine.
No pop ups.
Will scan with AdAware and Spybot.

Thanks so much for your help!

Next time you get over here to Detroit, I'll take you to the nearby Belgium bar for some feather bowling!
