Hello all,

I have a Seagate 1TB external hard drive that is failing to be detected by my laptop - running Windows Vista.

I've searched around Google for various solutions, none of which seem applicable. I've tried using different wires, different USB ports, searched for it under "Disk Management," and tried to access it on a different computer. Still no detection!

The drive lights up and I can hear it humming, with no beeps or clicks, so I assume it's still healthy to some extent.

Any solutions? Please help!

However it does not work on more than one computer so we can say the the trouble is the external drive.
Then you have to decide how hands on you want to get.

The next step is Seagate model number.
Then we may have to open the case and test the drive. However that will void the warranty so you need to see if there is warranty.

Please let me know.
