how to backup and restore c: drive

i have installed windows XP in my laptop, i want to backup and restore it, currntly im using "Norton Ghost-2003" i can only restore my c: drive from windows (if i can access the desktop of windowsXP) but i cant restore it from DOS, i tried to restore it from DOS but it hangs while restoring from DOS, tell me software by which i can backup and restore it both from windows and DOS. thanks

Have you got Windows XP Home, or the Professional version?
