Battery Not Charging

Sorry, but I will never buy another IBM again! I, personally, have had nothing but problems with the two that I had.

Anyway, now that that is said...

I unplugged the SL400 laptop and started to watch a slideshow of pictures when all of the sudden the computer went black, I had nothing. Tried to turn it back on, but no go. Plugged it in and runs fine. I have a message in the power center that says, "76% available (Plugged in, not charging)." Under power manager, it reads that the condition of the battery is good, but under status it reads that there is no activity. I would absolutely hate to buy another battery if that doesn't fix the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
