The only reason I even d/l the attatchment was because I just had something shipped yesterday and only glanced at the email but realized I messed up when I couldn't open the file and then I got hit with the USPS virus. I've looked around and have a decent idea on what to do but I need your experts advice to totally fix the problem. Thanks, you're best.

No problem :)

All looks clean so far.

Are you experiencing any issues?

Download Temp File Cleaner (TFC)
Double click on TFC.exe to run the program.
Click on Start button to begin cleaning process.
TFC will close all running programs, and it may ask you to restart computer.

Please run a free online scan with the ESET Online Scanner

  • Disable your antivirus program
  • Tick the box next to YES, I accept the Terms of Use
  • Click Start
  • Accept any security warnings from your browser.
  • Check Scan archives
  • Click Start
  • ESET will then download updates for itself, install itself, and begin scanning your computer. Please be patient as this can take some time.
  • When the scan completes, click on List of found threats
  • Click on Export to text file , and save the file to your desktop using a unique name, such as ESETScan. Include the contents of this report in your next reply.
NOTE. If Eset doesn't find any threats it'll NOT produce any log.

Its running pretty smooth but the eset scan was 25% done after 12 hours which is probably not normal. I will check on it when i get home from work.

When I got home I saw the begining screen where you would select "scan archives". There was no evidence that the scan finished or not. Now, I know you said that if no threats where found it would not save a log and I see no log saved anywhere but I'm sure last night before I went to bed there was definetly one threat found.

Pretty much everything is hidden or deleted still though.

What do you think?

Well I've read that's what this virus does. A buch of my programs and folders are gone from my desktop and C drive. When I go down to the windows start button all my programs are missing. So pretty much everything is gone. I've read that this virus possibly hides them.

Well you should have told me about this issue at the very beginning.
Since we ran temporary files cleaner already you'll have to restore all items manually.

Well I assumed you knew this was what the virus does and you never asked how my computer was acting. Anyhow, I don't even know where to begin. Do I just go and do all the folders that show up under "all programs" under the start button that have the (empty) in them? Wouldn't it just be easier to reinstall windows or something?
