Howdy,
I recently sent a couple of e-mails with pictures as attachments. Is there a way for me to check on my computer to see whether or not the recipients have received and opened these e-mails ?

I have XP Home, SP-2, Outlook Express.

Thank You,

Dennis

No. You can tell is the E-mail was sent, but not if it was received. Generally, though, unless the E-mail is returned to you by a mailer deamon you can assume it got to its destination.

Many E-mail applications have a "return receipt" feature that will notify you when a recipeint has displayed or opened your message; however, the recipient must be using a application that supposts MDN and must choose to comply with a request to send a return receipt.

John

Just for your information the receipt option does not work with Hotmail or many other web based e-mails

Howdy,
Thank You for the replies.

Scarlett, I followed your instructions and all is well. Thanks.

One more silly question if the board can stand it.

How can I display the e-mail messages that I have sent ? I clicked on out box, but then I was asked to put in each individual e- mail address in order for that particular message to come up.

There has to be an other way, right ?? I hope I am making some sort of sense. In other words can I click on something (tab, icon, etc...) that will display all sent e-mails??

Thank You,
Dennis

Your welcome.
No questions are silly. lol If you dont ask, you will never know.

Look in your Sent Items folder.

Inbox: The Inbox folder stores incoming messages.

Outbox: Message's goes through the Outbox folder on the way to the receipant

---> Sent Items: Outlook Express stores a copy of every e-mail message sent in the Sent Items folder.

Deleted Items: Delete any message and it goes into the Deleted Items folder.

Drafts: Outlook Express stores any messages that you saved before sending or that you were composing when and if your computer shut's down suddenly.

Edit: Had another question, but was able to pull off the near impossible and figured it out on my own.

Dennis

Cool! Great job! Thanks for letting us know.

If and when you ever have the time, maybe you could post what steps you took to fix your problem. If not that's ok too. :flowers:
Though it may prove helpful to others who are experiencing a similar problem. :trumpet:

Howdy Scarlett,
It was nothing to "earth shattering". I just could not find the e-mail sent feature. After playing around I found it.

I am hoping that a new book in the Dummy series will be published soon.

Perhaps something along the lines of "Windows for the really, really Dumb Dummies"

Dennis
