DDS starts running. Collects about a dozen "#" and then stalls and finally locks up the computer. Computer running DDS has serious root kit problems and I need to collect data. Any suggestions? "GMER" runs slow but does complete and log is saved.

Yes I do remember hitting the "Start new topic" button. But I haven't been on this site for a while, If I goofed then I'm sorry. I've had trouble with DDS this morning. It loaded as a document in notepad. You guys fixed that for me. I am trying to collect the data you need so you can help me. And, I want to know that I can do all you ask before sending a request for help. And I can't do DDS. Can you help?

Run the following instead, but make sure to post the following log in malware removal forum NOT here.

Download OTL to your Desktop.

  • Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.
  • Click the Scan All Users checkbox.
  • Click the Quick Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.
  • When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows: OTL.txt and Extras.txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.
  • Please copy (Edit->Select All, Edit->Copy) the contents of these files, one at a time, and post them back here.

Thanks. Yes, I will post to malware forum, sorry about that. I wasn't sure where to post before having completed the "7" steps.
