After unfortunately having my Macbook Pro stolen, I have had to invest in a cheap little netbook that is still running Windows XP.
- Can I even upgrade my netbook without it being really slow/crashing all the time to the latest version of Windows and would I have to pay (yes, I am that out of touch with computers I do not know).
- MORE IMPORTANTLY: at the moment Chinese characters (Hanyu traditional/simplified) are showing up as blocks on my screen. What can I do to see the characters properly?
I am currently learning Mandarin and it would be a lot more helpful if my netbook could display the characters, instead of having to rely on my iPhone for the majority of my learning.
Is there any update/program I can use that will allow me to do this?
System Info (from Control Panel:
- HP, Compaq
- Windows XP Home Edition, Version 2002, SP3
- Intel Atom CPU 1.60GHz
- 798MHz, 0.99 GB of RAM
I am not too concerned about getting it updated, mainly just being able to see Chinese Characters.
Thanks very much in advance and apologies if I have posted this in the wrong place,
