Toshiba Satellite laptop windows7 one morning wouldn't start.

The cooling fan runs and the dvd drive goes active, but no video, harddrive, memory error beeps, or signs that the bios is loading or Windows is starting.

Removed the hard drive and memory and still no boot to the mother board.

Bad mother board or power supply?

Do you have a video out plug that you could hook up an external monitor? Its possible your backlight went out and you just can't see the screen. You can test this by getting a flashlight and holding it at an angle on the screen. If its the backlight out, you should see a REAL faint image on the screen as it loads. Let rule this out first then move on.. :thumbup2:

Nothing with the flashlight. Will see if there's a video out and try that.

Hi,
First thing to try is what kisk has suggested. I would expect to see either VGA or HDMI video output on the laptop you have. Withe out the exact model it is hard to be more specific.

Go to here and check to see if you are in or out of warranty.

If you took out both memories than of course there would be no video. If only one memory is bad the easiest test it to use one and test, if no sucess than swap and test, if still nothing then it isn't memory.

Good Luck
Roger

Generally if you hook up the VGA monitor and then turn on the computer it will auto switch from internal to external display. Or you can use the keyboard toggle. Is that how you did it?

Did you try with one memory and swapping as a test?
Sometimes you get lucky and it is a bad memory.

Good Luck
