Welcome screen recorder

I am needing a recorder that will record not only my desktop but my welcome screen too. Things like cam studio don't work, When you "switch user" the video just goes black until you log back in. I need one that will record even the welcome screen if I still have my account running. And I don't want a VM

Why not just use a digital camera to record up to system boot...then combine that with post-video video file?

The only way to capture that early stuff is if you run an OS in a virtual machine. Otherwise...you need to take pics of the screen.
