Hi, I'm Francesco from Italy and I did something stupid.
I opened an application with notepad and accidentally set as default -> now I can't open any application from desktop and so on...
I downloaded Combofix but I'm not good enough to understand his log (attachment): can anybody tell me what I have to do?

What application?

Default for what?

I know of no app that can be the default for every type of program.

Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore.

Choose a restore date just before the problem started.

It may work to resolve your issue.

You did the right thing by not doing anything with Combofix. For future reference Combofix is not meant to "fix" general computer problems.

ComboFix is a program, created by sUBs, that scans your computer for known malware, and when found, attempts to clean these infections automatically.

Publisher's Description
From sUBs:
Combofix was designed to scan a computer for known malware, spyware (SurfSideKick, QooLogic, and Look2Me as well as any other combination of the mentioned spyware applications) and remove them.

Don't forget one of the most important parts of Combofix:

You should not run ComboFix unless you are specifically asked to by a helper. Also, due to the power of this tool it is strongly advised that you do not attempt to act upon any of the information displayed by ComboFix without supervision from someone who has been properly trained. If you do so, it may lead to problems with the normal functionality of your computer.

Launch it,click YES when you get a UAC prompt

If the registry file opens as notepad, right click on the file

Click on OPEN WITH,select Browse, navigate to C:/windows folder and select REGEDIT and click ok

or try this

Double-click on exeHelper.com to run the fix.

A black window should pop up, press any key to close once the fix is completed.

good luck
