Hello, my son recently installed a game he got from his friend. Grr..

I noticed that the computer had slowed down, taking 20 seconds to open firefox, freezing upon opening two windows explorers at once, etc. I went to virustotal.com and scanned the .exe used to launch the game and 4 of the antivirus' had found it malware so I uninstalled the game. Our computer is still slow, do you think you could help me doublecheck if anything was left behind?

I have avast free antivirus, malware bytes free version, MSE, sargui for rootkits, and ccleaner for cleaning registry, temps, etc.
Avast, mbam, and MSE havn't found anything :(
I have just noticed that MSE is not running automatically. Meaning, the MSE "building" symbol is not appearing in the taskbar upon startup, or even when I run manually.

Ah, in my C: drive there's a folder named with tons of letters and numbers "3590F75ABA9E485486C100C1A9D4FF06ZZ...Z..ZZZ..ZZZ". Inside there are 80+ folders each named
"Z..ZZZ..ZZZZZZZ.ZZZ." "ZZZ.ZZ.ZZZZZZZ.....ZZ..Z" "..ZZZZ.Z.....ZZZZZ.." etc. Then inside each of those folders are 80+ files named the same thing. These were all made today? The game was installed 2-3 days ago, and I uninstalled yesterday.

Our family uses wifi and as long as this laptop is "infected" it looks like I can't do anything business related. After you help me clean this computer, would you please assist in double checking my desktop?

My computer is a windows 7 64-bit

Scratch that about reinstalling windows. My installation disk is for dell computers only, and this laptop is an HP.
However, my question still stands, if I were to reinstall windows would it erase all virus'? Or is it possible my wireless router is infected, or that the wireless adapter on my desktop is infected?

Thank you in advance!

Please follow the instructions in ==>This Guide<== starting at Step 6. If you cannot complete a step, skip it and continue.

Once the proper logs are created, then make a NEW TOPIC and post it ==>HERE<== Please include a description of your computer issues, what you have done to resolve them, and a link to this topic.

If you can produce at least some of the logs, then please create the new topic and explain what happens when you try to create the log(s) that you couldn't get. If you cannot produce any of the logs, then still post the topic and explain that you followed the Prep. Guide, were unable to create the logs, and describe what happens when you try to create the logs.

It would be helpful if you post a note here once you have completed the steps in the guide and have started your topic in malware removal. Good luck and be patient.

If HelpBot replies to your topic, PLEASE follow Step One so it will report your topic to the team members.

I have created a new topic in the "Virus...Malware Removal Logs" section, and posted a link from there to this topic.
Thank you for replying so fast. :)
