Hi! This is my first post to BleepingComputer. I have a virus and my A+ class instructor recommended it.

I got the S.M.A.R.T. HDD virus, and it functioned just like other people have described (false messages about the hard drive, eventually asks for money to purchase the solution).

I ran Norton and it identified it as Trojan.zeroaccess!inf, but when I tried to download a removal tool, I lost access to the Internet.

I then tried to restore Windows XP from the CD's I made when I originally installed it. It seemed to work, but it only asked for the first of the 4 CD's I have. I now have minimal functions on the computer. I have read that this virus hides files rather than deleting them, so I am hopeful I can restore my computer. But without access to the Internet, I really can't proceed.

Please help.
