A strange thing has happened with my external hard drive. When I click on Safely Remove Hardware, it recognises that is there, and allows me to remove it safely. But it no longer shows a drive letter nor appears in my computer. So I cannot access it at all. Can anyone tell me how I can get the computer to reassign a drive letter back to it?

Oh, I should have also mentioned that the drive shows up in Device Manager and the properties box show it to be working fine.

Did you format and repartition the Ext. hard drive? or did you get a new one instead?
