How do I get Outlook 2012 to stop downloading old messages? I will get an e-mail from a day or two ago until I go into Windows Mail and delete it in there. Is there a setting or something? How? This is driving me up a wall.

Try this:
In Windows Mail choose Tools > Accounts > The account name > Properties > Advanced tab > Uncheck Leave a Copy on Server.
See if the above applies.
