Hi
After opening an email from a trusted address my pc has slowed almost to a stop. I hadn't done anything else other than visited a couple of sites that i visit almost every day eg internet banking so i am presuming that it must have had something to do with the email. I am not getting any error messages but when i open task manager and click on performance its showing 50% processor usage with no programs open. My os is windows xp home edition. If i try to restart whereas before it would close down in 10/15 secs now it takes about 3 mins. Hope somebody can help and thanks in advance.

    • Windows Update
    • Windows Defender
  • Press "Scan".
  • It will create a log (FSS.txt) in the same directory the tool is run.
  • Please copy and paste the log to your reply.

* Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When completed, a log will open in Notepad.
* Post the log back here.

Be sure to restart the computer.

The log can also be found here:

I don't see anything malicious.

Download Process Explorer: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx
Unzip ProcessExplorer.zip, and double click on procexp.exe to run the program.
Click on View > Select Colunms.
In addition to already pre-selected options, make sure, the Command Line is selected, and press OK.
Go File>Save As, and save the report as Procexp.txt.

Upload the file(s) here: http://uploadmb.com/
Copy the link inside the Direct Link box and post it in your next reply.
