My computer has been asking me to do backups.. and this is fine and dandy and usually works but lately it's been saying "this CD needs to be formatted".. and when I click "OK", it pops up the same thing again. This isn't a problem with the CD, it's the same CD that I've used for backups every other time.. and it's not a problem with the CD because I've tried new ones numerous times.

The following link is a screencap of the error I receive.

This has been happening for a few weeks.

Hi -
Are you having any problems writing to CDs at any other time ??
I actually use DVDs for a full backup of my Windows7 and I have a set of 5 of them -

Try it with DVDs next time and post back with the result -

Regards -

Sorry but you did not answer -
Are you having any problems writing to any CDs / DVDs at any other time ?? or reading any CDs / DVDs -

Are you using Windows built-in writer or another program (Nero / Roxio / ImgBurn / BurnAware / PowerIso)

I use a variety of these plus CDBurnerXP, and choose the one I want to use -

Nope, just recently with these back-ups.. this is all I use the DVDs for. I will check to see if the driver can read other DVDs for programs
I'm just using Window's writer I guess.. using Windows 7 built-in backup dealy.

Hi there,

You may want to consider using a third-party DVD writing app. for now.

Nero Burning ROM, ImgBurn are some good options.

I will check to see if the driver can read other DVDs for programs

Yep, this should help isolate the problem.
