MOBO: mcp6p m2+

Desktop with Windows 7

Computer boots normally in the cool morning, but won't boot in the hot afternoon or evening it usually doesn't boot but shows BOOTMGR.EXE Corrupt or missing. Sometimes it does boot and runs fine for a few minutes and then it just freezes up. Sometimes the freeze is just an extreme slowing down of everything, but it's slow enough I can't do anything.

Is it heat related? There's one rear case fan, and one cpu heatsink fan. Both fans are running at max speed, according to the BIOS. CPU temp as reported by the BIOS averages between 90 and 100 degrees F.

Hi, Something isn't right.

It shouldn't be running that hot.

I suggest taking a look and making sure the CPU heatsink & fan assembly is properly attached. Make sure the heatsink is clear of dust.

The slowdown could be related to the fact that as a CPU overheats it will slow down to protect itself from the overheating. That is because as it slows down it generates less heat.

Good Luck
Roger
