I am a customer of CenturyLink. Centurylink leases a ZyXel Q1000 router to customers. I'm trying to find an equivalent to this router, but no luck so far.

A good deal of the problem is that this is a custom router Zyxel makes for customers. Predictably, the Q1000 is not listed among Zyxel's offerings.

Can anyone tell me how I can learn the specs or standard for this router so I can buy a non-captive router, rather than lease? Thanks.

Well a lot of the times, the router that telecos provide with their services of DSL is the only one that can be used. You would need to contact Century Link for a list of compatible routers.
