Hi I have windows XP on an HP pavilion a430n not sure if I have service pack 2 or 3 but think it's 2

when I bootup I receive the error message for
"NetDDE Agent winlogin.exe

The exception Breakpoint
A breakpoint has been reached 0 x 80000003
occurred in the application at location 0x5ad71010
click OK to terminate or cancel to delete." I think it's "delete" - my not taking broke down

no matter what I click on within the error message the computer wants to reboot.
I stopped the auto reboot and received this error message when I clicked "OK" on the "NetDDE Agent winlogin.exe" error message:

"STOP: c000021a {fatal system error}
The WindowsLoginProcess system terminated unexpectedly with a status of
0 x 80000003 (0x00000000 0x00000000)
The system has been shut down"

If I ignore the error message I can work on the computer just fine.
I ran Kaspersky, Malwarebytes and spybot and found nothing.

Is there a way to correct this?
Is it possible to correct by rebooting and setting the system back (not sure of the terminology) say three weeks when I did not have this error?

Thank you!

Hello Ruth -
To to a System Restore go - Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore -
Click Next and see if you have a date highlighted prior to your problem -

This may or may not solve the problem, so please post back with the results -

Thank You -
EDIT - Details = NetDDE is basically Network Data Exchange
DDE across a network is simple to set up. It uses NetBIOS and since this can be run over TCP/IP, NetDDE can use the Internet.
Given a fast connection, network DDE is if anything faster than between two programs on one machine, because the server and client can process in parallel.

Thank you.

I started the system restore to March 20th 2012 .The error message still appears on the blue screen.
Not sure how long this should take - it's been around 15 minutes.

Do you, or have you been connected to another computer by Remote Repair, Conference, or Messaging ??

Do you have Windows Messenger (or Yahoo Messenger) open quite often (or just at times), or would kids do this ??

The item seems to be telling you that you have an open Internet contact between 2 or more computers -

EDIT for spelling -
Also to find your service pack Start > Right click on My Computer > Properties and it is shown there -

I made a big mistake once- few months ago and contacted IYogi - they represented themselves as Kaspersky support.
they started a remote repair but computer froze and (long story) we are still in dispute with my credit card about their billing me.

I fixed the screen freezing problem myself by removing malwarebytes from start up.

I don't use windows messenger and hopefully have yahoo messenger off as never used it either.
the only connection would be the one iYogi installed and I don't know how to get rid of it as I don't know where it is.
Is there a way to check?
the system restore is still going on.

"Do you have Windows Messenger (or Yahoo Messenger) open quite often (or just at times), or would kids do this ??" no to all
"The item seems to be telling you that you have an open Internet contact between 2 or more computers -" that's scary.
"Also to find your service pack Start > Right click on My Computer > Properties and it is shown there - " thank you for all the info.

Please Read This on IYogi scammers -
If you do any internet banking on this computer please STOP NOW

Please post in the Malware Removal Area and read HERE and see if an expert can remove this for you -
Follow steps 4 to 9 in the introduction section, and post any logs / details requested there -
Sorry, but it seems like they have an unsecured connection still open to you - :( :killcomp:

Forget the System Restore as I think this will not help at the moment -

I can't open my bank account on my XP.
My system restore is still running. If I click on the error message that might shut down my computer - will that be ok in the middle of the restore?
can I stop the restore or should I wait another hour or so?

Keep any Credit Card details and other items off this computer that may have value -
The experts may tell you to re-install (Simple process), but you need a Microsoft XP CD or HP re-install CD, if not try to borrow a XP Home CD ??

Your System Restore should only take about 5 to 10 mins at the most (I just did mine due to a small problem) -

Turn off the computer at the button you use to start it - Hold in for about 3 to 5 seconds, it will turn off -
Wait untill full shutdown, and in 5 mins restart and follow the directions I have left for you -

Thank You -
Any other questions for the moment, (I will keep an eye on this) -

I tried different restore points and finally gave up and rebooted - the error message is gone but something else came up and I will send the image of the message soon.

If they have an unsecured internet connection to your system sometimes the program they used may need to be deleted -

Did they ask you to download a connection program ?? There are several types of these -
You might check in Control Panel Add / Remove for any program that seems odd -

I can only tell if you follow this program below to show me what is installed on your system as I cannot see from here -

Please download MiniToolBox, save it to your desktop and run it.
Checkmark the following checkboxes:
•Flush DNS
•Report IE Proxy Settings
•Reset IE Proxy Settings
•List last 10 Event Viewer log
•List Installed Programs
•List Users, Partitions and Memory size.
Click Go and post the result (Result.txt). A copy of Result.txt will be saved in the same directory the tool is run.

Thank you.
What I did in the last half hour was contact Comcast. The rep gave me a higher security level and I changed login and password information for my wireless router.
the icon at the bottom of my computer disappeared about an hour ago after I try to reset my system to an earlier time - (and the reset did not work)
Also the error message is gone.

the rep at Comcast took me seriously and additionally gave me a couple of familiar pointers.
I am running hitman pro now.

thank you for your help.
I'm taking a little break before proceeding -to think straight.
