Hi! I'm new here. Love the site. I saw another user having an issue with BSOD from burning dvds and it got resolved by deleting Roxio and installing CDBurner XP. Everything runs fine except when i go to burn something. Although I deleted my Roxio I just wanted to double check that my error was the same reason. I Downloaded BSOD viewer here's my text:

Hello Sara -
Was this the only report from Blue Screen View, or did you only post the last dump ??
You should have had 3 or 4 I would think - Please re-run and check, directions below ->>

Please download BlueScreenView (in zip file)
  • Extract (right-click > Extract all) the contents of bluescreenview.zip.
  • Double-click on the BlueScreenView.exe file, to run the program. (No installation is required.)
  • When scanning is done (usually complete by the time the interface appears), go ...
  • Edit > Select All
  • File > Save Selected Items, and save the report to your Desktop as BSOD.txt.
  • Close the BlueScreenView window... ... ...
  • Open BSOD.txt using Notepad and go ... .... ..
  • Edit > Select All
  • Edit > Copy, and then paste the entire contents of the text file into your next reply.

Thank You -

Hi -
Have you only had one BSOD prior to using CDBurner XP (good simple program) and have you burned anything this week ??

The top dump only lists one item on this date / time - Crash Time : 4/9/2012 - 5:54:15 PM
This was caused by your NVIDIA® nForce™ Sata Driver and ~~not directly~~ by a burner program -
The others are November last year, November 2007 and April 2008 -

How often has this happened or do the dates / times seem right to you for BSODs ??

Thanks -

I just tried with the CDBurner XP and it kept freezing to the point where I had to keep restarting my computer. I downloaded Imgburn and Then on opening I got crashed. I tried it twice so now i have two new reports. The one was correct from before 4/9/12. that was the last one that crashed before these just now. Thanks so much

I guess that you can see the common item listed in these dumps -

Caused By Driver : nvgts.sys
Caused By Address : nvgts.sys+e8b8
File Description : NVIDIA® nForce™ Sata Performance Driver
Product Name : NVIDIA nForce™ SATA Driver
Company : NVIDIA Corporation

Hi -
Can you tell me when the last time this computer was opened and cleaned / dusted ??
+System Temperature: 58 °C" - The internal temperatures are a bit high generally and this may be causing your Dell Motherboard to heat up
If this is so, then almost any burner program may overheat it further -

I am still checking on the normal running temps for this unit, but this just seemed high to me -
I would expect the System to be under 50 °C and closer to 45 °C (mine is showing 41 °C at the moment and has been on for over 6 hours)

Do not take this as final yet as I need to check a few other sites still -

Thank You -
EXTRA - What Antivirus and Firewall are you using -

I've cleaned the front with a Dust off like 2 weeks ago. I opened inside 2 days ago to look at my ram chips. the inside didn't look dirty unless I have to take something out and do some fine cleaning with a qtip or something. Thanks for checking this out for me. :)

I use avast and no idea what kind of firewall

Usually you have a can of compressed air and blow out the fans and around the general inside of the unit and use a small (paint) brush
If air cannot get through the fans then it will not keep it cool -

Core Temp 1.0 RC3 may be a good program for you to monitor the temperatures

Enable DMA in XP Please Read This and check your settings - XP is in the middle of the page -

The DMA were both enabled already and here's my screen of core temp. would anything else heat up the motherboard besides dust? :) Thank You times a million for still helping me.

OK -
Do we have a RW - CD to try now just to get a BSOD :P

Trying to find updated drivers is hard, as most are 2007 or so -
