Having problem re-installing a HP 3970 ScanJet scanner. Inserted the CD and nothing happens. I did have a set-up poster but can't find it, also can't find one on the net. I have Win XP. My first post here, so hope everything is correct.

OK,

First unplug the scanner
Then go to the control panel
Add remove programs
Uninstall the scanner

Then

Here is the link to download the latest drivers.

And here is the HP guide for installing it. I would download the software to your hard drive then follow these instructions. This will ensure that you have the latest. Don't forget to unplug the scanner first and leave it unplugged until asked for it.

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, but I give up. It's just too confusing for my old brain. :(
