Hi everyone!

Just a self-introduction - my first post.

I stumbled across Bleeping Computers googling around for help/reassurance/instruments-of-vengeance on the topics of hacking and malware.

Specifically the About page "Why You Need a Second Opinion Malware Scanner" (http://netsecurity.about.com/od/antivirusandmalware/a/Second-Opinion-Malware-Scanners.htm)

I'm an older user without a lifetime of computer education - part of an increasing demographic I gather - and tend to appreciate what others say worked or didn't over what manuals assert.

One particular area of interest is the use of application weak-points for attacks, but generally I'm a black-hole for information of all sorts. I'm a reasonably accomplished gumby but a gumby for all that. An invitation to "try pasting this script" to some place I never knew my (or anyone's) computer might have had still hurts my head - particularly if it's more than one line long  .

Thus, many thanks for all the joint efforts that create and maintain a community such as this.

The power of accurate observation is commonly called cynicism by those who haven't got it.
