Any computer I ever ran combofix on had to be reformatted. This is worse than any virus I ever saw.
The makers of this should be taken out back and have thier nuts strapped to a 55gal drum and set it on fire!

Edit: Moved topic from XP to the more appropriate forum. ~ Animal

While we understand your frustrations with this powerful tool. There is a reason that we appear to annoy the other half of the self help community with in their perception excessive warnings about the risk of using ComboFix.

Were you aware of this topic prior to your use of the tool? ComboFix usage, Questions, Help? - Look here

If you had used ComboFix with the guidance of a trained helper it is quite possible that reformatting might not have been necessary.

It is only in rare circumstances that ComboFix will specifically be found to be the source of a problematic issue or unbootable computer. In almost all cases, these problems are caused by the malware infection or by improperly removing it.

When issues arise due to complex malware infections, possible false detections, problems running ComboFix (i.e. stalling, hanging, crashing) or with other security tools causing conflicts, experts are usually aware of them and can advise what should or should not be done while providing individual assistance. Those attempting to use ComboFix on their own do not have such information and are at risk when running the tool in an unsupervised environment.
