Yesterday morning, I became infected by a Google Redirect virus that is sending me to GimmeAnsers and Happili, among about 20+ other sites. I am currently doing a Malware AntiBytes (MBAM) scan and will post those results. I have discovered over a dozen different approaches to this problem and suspect a RootKit may be involved, which makes it even more difficult to remove.
Dont bother with AVG or StopZilla to remove this. AVG now requires you to completely remove TrendMicro, which I am unwilling to do. StopZilla detected a trojan, but was unable to remove it. (A lot of good that did me, plus the scan took 12 hours to run.)
During the scan, MBAM blocked the following IPs and I have logged a complaint with the ISP. I doubt that will do any good though.
I am assuming this IP range extends all the way to 255. While I was typing this, MBAM also blocked 18.104.22.168.
I am crossing my fingers that MBAM will remove this, but if not, will try several other methods I have seen on this board. Most of those users were running Win7, but my Win7 machine has not been impacted.
