Hello Members. I appear to be suffering from the same malady that many people are suffering from. For about 2-3 weeks now I have been getting the every so often redirect to happili.com. I have not been sent to any of the other sites noted by others (yet?). I am currently using Firefox 11.0 (according to help->about firefox). I am on a typical home network. No other computers are compromised that I can see/attempt to replicate with.. the machine I am on appears to be the only machine with issues. My wife prefers to use IE on this computer version 9.0.8112.16421 (but she's never had the issue). I have Symantec Antivirus 10.2.0.298 and use malwarebytes pretty frequently (up to date). In my chances of trying to get this off my machine I also loaded adaware and spybot as well, but none of them find anything (and I have no issue getting rid of those). Please let me know how to get started and I will gladly post what's needed. Like most who will read this, I've got a "day job" so sometimes my posts may be delayed. Thanks! EBBQ

Ok Broni... here you go. All scans done. I actually thought aswMBR was done.. so I saved a little premature. When it was really done, I saved it again (you'll see it at the end of the log).

Side Note/Reminder: I did not have spybot or adaware on the machine until yesterday. I know.. it's nuts.. but I was trying everything.. and I'm willing to let them go bye bye as soon as you say so. Thanks again.

Does the redirection happen on Firefox only?
Is IE fine?

Please download GooredFix from one of the locations below and save it to your Desktop
Download Mirror #1
Download Mirror #2
  • Ensure all Firefox windows are closed.
  • To run the tool, double-click it (XP), or right-click and select Run As Administrator (Vista).
  • When prompted to run the scan, click Yes.
  • GooredFix will check for infections, and then a log will appear. Please post the contents of that log in your next reply (it can also be found on your desktop, called GooredFix.txt).

Hey Broni.. I don't use IE, wife does on my machine.. I asked her, she has no redirect issues. It's only happening when I use firefox (my preferred and only used browser.. when I can help it!)

Here's the log from GooredFix (firefox was closed when I did it.. used IE to get the program to my desktop).

If you're using Firefox 3.x, close Firefox. Go Start>All Programs>Mozilla Firefox, click on Mozilla Firefox (safe mode).
If you're using Firefox 4, or higher go Help>Restart Firefox with Add-ons Disabled.
Same issue?

Hey Broni. I restarted with firefox and add ons disabled.. no issues. At least after several attempts to get it to do it again, I feel I can say it's not happening now. My browser does seem slower though..

Restart Firefox normally.
Disable all add-ons but ONE.
Restart FF.
No redirection?
If so enable another add-on, restart and so on until you find the culprit.

So, if I goto "add-ons" in my help menu on firefox (looks like a puzzle piece).. there are "extensions", "appearance", and "plugins".. I am assuming you mean to go into the "plugins" section and disable all, and add each one back in, correct?

You go Tools>Add-ons and then "Extensions" tab.
Extension=add-on

Please excuse my ignorance.. firefox 11. I don't have a tools option off the firefox menu. If I goto firefox/options/general/manage add-ons that takes me to a list the same list of plug-ins I mentioned above. This is the closest thing I can find. Is that what I'm looking for? I can disable them and add them back in one at a time.

I did try that.. my first one is "2001 Microsoft Office System 12.04518.1014 Office plugin for Netscape Navigator" (wow.. that's old?). Everything was working fine. Next I added in "Adobe Acrobat 9.5.0270" (not sure if I closed and reopened).. once I did that happili.com came back. NOW, with that said, I disabled both, closed and reopened, added them back in.. and now I can't replicate it. So strange..

No, leave plugins alone.

Ok.. figured out why I couldn't see tools menu.. menu tool bar was hidden. Now that it's back, I select tools>Add-on's it opens a new firefox tab with the same four choices as earlier of "get add-ons", "extensions", "appearance", and "plugins." This is in a graphical format. I tried doing a print screen copy and paste here to show you, but failed. Two of the sections have areas that I can go in an disable things.. extensions and plugins. There are only 4 things in the extensions section. Plugins has many to disable and enable. So since I should stay way from plugins should I go in and start working with the extensions? Two only have remove as a choice and the other two are already disabled.. so I don't think they're running now anyway.
